Executive Director for Distribution & Transmission
Engr. Thomas Zailee Gonkerwon is an Electrical Engineer and an Energy Expert with over Thirty (30) Years of work experience in the Electricity sector of Liberia. Engr. Gonkerwon serves as Executive Director for Distribution and Transmission and is responsible for the technical, strategic, and financial management of the utility’s transmission and distribution assets. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Electricity from the Booker Washington Institute (BWI), and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Liberia. Engr. Gonkerwon has also earned several certificates from the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) in the areas of Project Planning & Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Procurement.
Over the course of his career, Engr. Gonkerwon served in various capacities including Substation Engineer, Assistant Manager Transmission & Distribution, Manager Transmission & Distribution, Electrical Superintendent, Deputy Managing Director for Operations Facilities Manager, Consultant, and Advisor. He has worked in both Public, Private, as well as Diplomatic Missions including the Ministry of Public Works, Firestone Liberia, and the U. S. Embassy near Monrovia.
Engr. Gonkerwon is a member of several professional bodies including The Knight of St. John International, and the Engineering Society of Liberia, where he served as Secretary, Vice President, and President. He has designed, constructed, Maintained, and Operated, many Electrical Systems including Generation, Transmission & Distribution substations, and Lines. He obtained many awards including ‘Mission Honour’ U S Embassy Monrovia. as well as Certificates from the National Foreign Service Institute-US States Department.
