Public Service Announcement – Debtors Engagement

The Management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), with the support of its Board of Directors, has embarked on a massive energy debt recovery exercise to ensure that all legitimate delinquent debts are recovered from debtors. This action has since been supported by the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah through a pronouncement supporting LEC in its disconnection of all non-paying and illegal electricity consumers.

In view of the aforementioned, the Commercial and Regulatory Division of the LEC invites all debtors to contact the Debt Management Section of the Division commencing Monday, August 8, 2022, through August 31, 2022 to discuss their respective debt settlement arrangements and the potential reconnection to the grid for debtors who have been disconnected. Further, all customers with debt disputes are also requested to report to the Division for validation and reconciliation within the above-mentioned period.

This opportunity will remain available until September 15, 2022, after which LEC will proceed with all resources available to it to include but not limited to: disconnection and assets removal or legal action in cases of non-compliance.
