3. LEC Relocates Assets to Facilitate Overhead Road Construction from Congo Town–72nd Boulevard to ELWA Junction
The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has officially commenced the relocation of its assets to pave the way for the upcoming overpass road construction project along the Congo Town–72nd Boulevard to ELWA Junction corridor. The relocation initiative was launched with an outdoor stakeholder engagement program that brought together key partners, including representatives from the Offices of the Township Commissioner and Representative of District #10, the Mayor of Paynesville City, community chairpersons of the affected areas, and a technical team from the Ministry of Public Works.
The relocation exercise, which began on April 4, is expected to be completed within 45 days. Potential temporary power outages, road detours, and strict safety protocols are anticipated during the implementation phase. Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Thomas Z. Gonkerwon, Acting Deputy Managing Director for Operations at LEC, outlined the technical procedures and measures that will guide the relocation. He also noted that the process will be carried out in collaboration with project contractors and in close coordination with relevant government institutions and local authorities.

LEC reassures the public of its commitment to minimizing disruptions during the process and ensuring that affected communities are fully informed and engaged throughout the relocation period.
