The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) will be represented by its Interim Managing Director, Engr. Thomas Z. Gonkerwon, at the Powering Africa Summit 2025 (PAS25), taking place from March 6 to 7 in Washington, D.C. This year’s summit marks the 10th anniversary of energy partnership between the United States and Africa and promises to be an interactive platform focused on capital flows, the energy transition, and accelerating energy projects across the continent.
PAS25 will bring together key stakeholders, including U.S. government officials, institutional investors, private financiers, service providers, and technology companies from North America, alongside African ministers and government representatives. Under the new theme, “The Future of the U.S. & Africa Energy Partnership” the summit will take a regional approach, emphasizing energy cooperation in Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northern Africa.
Since its inception in 2014, the Powering Africa Summit has played a crucial role in fostering collaboration across the energy value chain, with continuous support from key stakeholders committed to driving Africa’s energy development. This year’s event will build on past successes and set the stage for new partnerships aimed at advancing sustainable energy solutions across the continent.
As Liberia continues to make strides in its energy sector, LEC’s participation in PAS25 reaffirms the country’s commitment to expanding its energy infrastructure and strengthening international partnerships. Engr. Gonkerwon’s engagement at the summit will provide an opportunity to explore new investment avenues and strategic collaborations to enhance Liberia’s power sector.
