Background

The Liberia Electricity Corporation is a public utility entity created in 1973 by the Government of the Republic of Liberia through an act of Legislature with a mandate to produce and supply economic and reliable electric power to the entire nation, while at the same time maintaining the corporation financial viability.

LEC invites applications from appropriately qualified and experienced male and female candidates.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining and performing emergency repairs relating to overhead and underground electric systems.
  • Enforces safety procedures and regulations; plans and organizes various jobs assigned daily; assures that the appropriate material and equipment is checked out to complete the assigned work during the day.
  • Confirm all progress according to the Field Procedure, Installation Procedure, and Task List checklists.
  • Installs and maintains overhead and underground power lines; replaces and installs transformers; trouble shoots for problems; performs minor maintenance work on equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains street lights; performs switching services, paralleling and breaking parallel of circuits in the systems.
  • Supervises a crew of line workers; trains, evaluates, and disciplines employees.
  • Framing and setting power, security and street poles.
  • Installing primary and secondary lines. Finding and fixing cable faults, and restoring power.
  • Installing metering equipment. Setting underground transformers and switches.
  • Keeping accurate reports and records of work activities such as work orders.
  • Provide supervisory report

Job Related Qualifications

Minimum Educational Qualification

  • Minimum Secondary Education
  • Relevant vocational training

Required Experience

  • At least 3 years electrical utility experience as a technician
