PRESS STATEMENT ON POWER THEFT

The Management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation has learned with grave concern that some members of the public are in the habit of threatening, harassing, and even assaulting its employees who have been mandated to disconnect customers that do not have a legal and proper connection. Customers who intimidate LEC disconnection teams are advised to refrain from such behavior or else they will be subject to permanent disconnection and could face criminal charges.  LEC reminds the General Public that power theft is a second-degree felony and those engaged in power theft are committing a crime subject to a mandatory jail term and fines.
